In addition to being deeply immersed in embodied physical practices, I work with actions of thought and the emotional states that they produce, whether they interrupt your ability to be in relations with others, accomplish tasks and stay on purpose, or enjoy other aspects for ease in living.
I understand how to change minds, not just bodies. I have been in private practice as a coach for over twenty-three years and also have a PhD that knits these two fields together.
My private practice is now open to all individuals seeking support and direction in making personal change to resolve issues, blocks, or worries that hold you or your relationships back. Sign up for a free consultation.
I work with actions of thought and the behavioral circumstances, emotional and physical states that they produce, whether they interrupt your ability to be in relations with others, accomplish tasks and stay on purpose, act creatively, or simply enjoy other important aspects of living.
I understand how to change minds and the bodily states they produce. I was in private practice as a clinical coach for 8 years and have been coaching people all over the world for over twenty-three years. I also have a PhD that knits the field of movement and embodiment together with a deep understanding of mental thoughts and actions.
I work with people individually to further their personal embodiment goals as well as concomitant issues that cause stress and discomfort in their lives. Understanding that our physical attention is basic to all of our relations changes how we are present in the world. We work with mindfulness as motion, whether that movement is primarily of the body or the mind. I work with dancers, choreographers, creative people as well as all people concerned with enhancing their presence in the world.
My private practice is now online and open to all individuals seeking support and direction in making personal change to resolve issues, blocks, or worries that hold you or your relationships back. This work includes teaching as well as engaging in process work. Contact me here for a free 20-minute consultation, to see if this work fits for you. I can take only 8 clients a week. Coaching can be only a few sessions or it can be on-going over a number of months. The decisions are personal and particular to the client.
In the early days of touring Contact Improvisation, I was introduced to people who were early pioneers of Neurolinguistic Programming (NLP). This study fascinated me because it was based on principals that were congruent with those that held true for the body, movement, and physical relations. It influenced my teaching, allowing me to integrate actions of mind with my understanding of actions of the body.
By the late 1990’s I was the mother of a young child and was not willing to tour, dancing and teaching. I had already been teaching The Mind in Motion for over 15 years and thought it was time to dive into the available technologies of the mind, NLP and Hypnotherapy. By 1999 I opened a coaching practice in Santa Cruz, California. I was by then a Master Practitioner of NLP, a The Destination Method Coach (TDM Transpersonal Coaching), and a Clinical and Medical Hypnotherapist.
I ran this practice until I returned to graduate school to study for my PhD in Performance Studies in 2008. After graduation I toured extensively until this moment which seems again another critical opportunity in which movement and coaching align to develop an even more comprehensive understanding and practices of the mind that is a body, the body that is a mind. Recognizing the Sub-Consicous as a critical partner in our experiencing, decision making, and relations with the world is an essential ingredient in all our mindfulness, transpersonal, environmental, and creative actions.
